COUNSELING COACHING CONNECTION
I have over 17 years of professional experience as a licensed clinical social worker providing counseling for adolescents, adults, parents, college students, and medical students, addressing relationship issues, grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety, interpersonal violence, sexual orientation/gender identity and stress management. I have worked with clients in nonprofit agencies, schools, college campuses and in private practice.
I received a Masters in Social Work degree from the University of Washington, with a concentration in Children, Youth & Family. I also am a proud member of the Trojan family receiving both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Southern California. More recently I became a Certified Divorce Coach and I have the tools to be a thought partner with clients at various stages of the divorce process.
I am compassionate and nonjudgmental and practice from a strengths-based, relational model with clients. As a counselor I incorporate cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness and self-compassion into my work. If a client is going through a separation or divorce, I will meet them wherever they are at -- providing validation and support in dealing with the emotions and overwhelming feelings in the beginning (or at any point of the divorce process). As a coach I empower clients when they are ready to begin to take steps forward to reduce the 'overwhelm', get organized, and create the life they want. I have the personal experience and the professional background to provide a valuable perspective to the adults and adolescents who I work with to reach their goals.
I am a proud mom of 2 amazing teenage girls and just launched my older daughter off to college! Divorce is part of my own story -- as a child I experienced the impact of divorce twice (including being part of a stepfamily). And then as a mom of two children I went through all of the emotions and challenges of my own divorce. My ex-husband and I have worked hard to put our daughters first and have created a new definition of family. I have chosen to own my story and to rewrite it from a place of resilience and strength.
I provide individual counseling for adults and adolescents dealing with the emotional impact of divorce, relationship and life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief and loss and other issues.
As a coach I work with clients to gain clarity and identify their best self to be able to move forward during a difficult time in their lives.
I believe in the importance of connecting with others who are experiencing similar life challenges. I am in the process of developing self-compassion workshops for people going through divorce and support groups for single parents of adolescents.

when we own the story we can write a brave new ending."
